While delivering the lecture on “Creating a Livable Planet Earth” at the Indian Institue of Management Kalam collapsed and died from an apparent Cardiac Arrest (HEART ATTACK) on 27 July 2015, aged 83. Thousands, including national-level dignitaries, attended the funeral ceremony held in his hometown at Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Desiya Ninaivagam, Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu.
